Something to consider. Here is a ranking of women's rights in all the different countries. I think this deserves to be a primary consideration. Note that South Korea is ranked 26th. We definitely don't want to go below that... from what you have told me. I am just going to post the list here. I really don't think these people would mind, but God bless them for making the list.

The other concerns would be racism, and human rights abuses in general.

Unfortunately most of the nations that would be rich in your dance heritage... well eastern dance are nightmarish on the women issues, and the human rights issues. Terrorism is rampant, and just today there was an explosion at a hotel in Indonesia... suicide bombers.
I also have been just asking around about places to go, and there were concerns expressed by a friend of mine about racism in Japan... but other than racism, and it's proxemity to Korea, it looks like it very well MIGHT be a good place to go.
I was very disappointed in the poor shoing India made in the womens' rights index above, and also in the human rights index... overall best advice for safety move to Sweeden, or Norway or somewhere in northwestern Europe, or to Australia... as long as you stay away from deadly snakes you'd be perfectly safe in Australia or New Zealand. ;D
As far as asia... oh God... I see so many problems in that whole place, with going there as a woman. I am continuing to research and maybe there is some little pocket of asia where women have united and refuse to be treated as dogs, but I have not found it yet. Japan maybe... but the rest of this is ungodly, and on another rating for women, Egypt was dead last in a list of "Women friendly Couontries. I think the list had only about 60 nations, and was based on treatment of women.

It is truely shocking for myself as an American woman to read how our sisters in foreign countries are treated, and I do not know how or why, they tolerate such things.
Oh and here are some common sense tips for women traveling to India, but I think they would apply to travel to many foreign countries, at any rate the priciples apply fairly universally.
