A while back there was a TV series called Millennium, which was about a group whose motto was “It is who we are.” Like them we know who we are, and we accept who we are. We live by our own understanding of who we are. Each of us has our own beliefs and our own practices, but we come together for the good of all of us.
We generally accept each other and have affection for one another, and we do not find that agreement is necessary. We are who we are, and even though we help each other to improve, we all know that the other person is responsible for who they are moment by moment, and it is just the energies arising in them that makes them whom they are… and in the end advise as we will we will not really change the other person. We may teach, and we may assist, and we may even guide, but in the end, “it is who we are,” that makes us both different and equal. None of us is greater than the other, though we all have our talents, we are all on equal footing here. We try to assist one another without interfering. We share information, and an occasional opinion, but when it all comes down, we are all equal, free thinking people, responsible for themselves.. There is no central person, only all of us.
I am a mother figure to some of you, but the purpose of a mother, is in my opinion to bring forth children and encourage them in such a way that they quickly learn to stand on their own, form their own opinions, and learn not only from the mother, but from other sources equally. A wise mother gives her children to the world as a gift, knowing they will all eventually grow stronger than her. A good mother eventually wants her children to supersede her in every way, and to become strong adults capable of taking on the world without them, because one day they will have to. For that reason a good mother teaches about dangers, and opportunities in a general way, that leads the young ones to a logical thought pattern that applies to everything, not what to think about each individual situation as an isolated incident, but how to think for themselves.
She encourages individuality in her children so as not to produce clones of herself, but rather encourages the individual’s talents and ideals and how to develop those in a way that enables them to survive, no matter what happens, in a way that is unique to them. Many of you have already surpassed me in different ways, and we are again all equal, as we grow and learn together.
It is the purpose of this group, as a sort of family to grow as individuals, and to come together as a group. We all offer something to the group, and we all get something out of the association. We explore all worlds without fear and we go where we like, and where ever suits us. We observe, we learn and we compare notes. We try to understand, the mundane, the ethereal, and the divine with equal interest, knowing that it is all connected, and we try to understand these connections on a deeper level.
As a family we all want the best for each and every one of us, but we try to have the wisdom to know that what we want is not always what the other person wants. It is their life… and that is the most difficult part of being a family, to watch a family member choose the more difficult and dangerous path, when perhaps another would be easier. It is hard to stand by and watch that, but we try back off once we have advised, because in the end it is one’s own path to choose, and we can only hope that each of us has wisdom sufficient for the road of their calling.
We all have a calling, and a way of life which we have willingly chosen to follow. If we deviate from our path that is also our choice, and our way. If our path widens or narrows, it is still our path, and we are who we are, and no one else can follow our path but us. We do not require each other to follow our path, it is our place to follow our life path, and another must follow theirs.
