Hopefully, soon after I leave this country I'll be around more often.
I spent a good 20 minutes posting, and after I clicked on 'post reply', the server decided to take too long to reply....and if never posted.
Hmmm....
Anyway, I'm hanging in there...March can't come soon enough....I think I'm REALLY going to give East Asia a rest for a while....

Oh well Europe is closer than China, and god knows their internet works just fine over there. I also caught that it will take until March for you to be finished with your obligations... but since I have gotten so much older, time really passes quickly. March is probably about one blink away.
I've been keeping busy and am making a fair living off online writing... well at least considering the times, it is about as good as I could expect. I have a few regular clients, and two of them especially really keep me busy. One pays me $85 a week and the other is more variable, but this week at least I have made about $225 from him. They are both sweethearts to work for too. In my spare time, whatever that is, I am planning to write a self help book and I am trying to determine what people need. I also need to catch up on my chores both inside and out.
We have started a few homesteading projects, the most notable one so far is that we are now the proud owners of two nanny goats. I just love them. They are really sweet, and kind of shy. My daughters both say that they are "creepy," "have evil looking eyes," and "freaky looking" They also complain that the goats make way too many weird noises.
Personally, I think they are way cooler than our dogs. First off If my dogs get pregnant, I have to rent a booth at the flea market, just to give them away, and for some reason giving away the last puppy is always impossible. If my goats have kids, I can sell them for $80 or $90 each. Then I can milk them for about a year, getting over a gallon of milk a day from the both of them together.
Even if it weren't for their practical uses, they aren't as hard to handle as the dogs. They may make a funny noise, but they don't wake me up like the barking, and they aren't as hyper either... much more peaceful animals. I think they look like deer, but my daughters disagree.
After I am comfortable in raising goats, I plan to try a catfish farming in a barrel project I read about on line, and I a few other no fuss projects. I just don't have as much time as I would like, to do all that stuff... so I am taking it slow.
Anyway that's what's going on down on the farm, and of course NC had an awful hurricane today but it's to the east of us. I understand it's hitting DC about now, and will then move up the Atlantic and hit NY, probably impacting Manhattan.
More strangely we had an earthquake the other day. 5.8 all over the east coast. We couldn't understand what it was, because we'd never felt an earthquake before. Today they said it cracked the Washington Monument! New York had another quake today that was a little stronger than a 2. I don't remember the exact number. I don't know why this is happening. It's very strange for the east coast to have these kinds of things.
Anyway I am going on and on, but I thought I'd tell you all what is up with me, and the rest of the country. I miss you all.

YAY! People or something... <.< >.> Del, stay safe. I'm feeling strangeness in that part of the world, not so much in Europe though.
The earthquakes on the east coast had me curious how bad it actually was, KG. I know east coast don't get earthquakes often. Before it happened, I was thinking through a "what if" in a philosophy class of a similar scenario.

Hey guys! Well it's 6 am here....went to bet uber early the night before and now I'm awake....might go back to sleep. I heard about the east coast shift. Shake things up a bit to release some nasty energy, with wind and water to cleanse it a bit....sounds about as natural as can be. ^_^ Hurricanes are typically for the most southern part of the East coast...but an earthquake AND the hurricane heading further up north to pay NYC a visit...now THAT'S the interesting bit. I hope that you all are doing well. It is September 1st, and I should start packing for my move [going to another city...far away from Shanghai]. Kim, I'm glad to hear things are more calm.

LOL
Hi Lan, yes it's people with Goats and people speaking all the way from China!
Del, Glad to hear you are OK and everything. I hope your new city is far less polluted than Shanghai! I hate that the Chinese have that problem... but I'll be glad when at least you are not exposed to that.
As for the Earthquake we've not had one that strong in 100 years, but we do have them from time to time. They usually aren't perceptible though. With this one, everyone in the state thought their washing machine was off balance, or at least that was the most common assumption. It was really a little bit worse than when the washing machine starts bouncing around with out of balance clothing, but not a whole lot. Very few people knew what it was. I was taking a nap cause I had worked all night, and I thought my tom cat was on the bed scratching himself, and then I thought, no way the cat could shake the bed that much! I looked and no cat.
As for damage... the Washington monument needs considerable repair. I heard today that workmen saw cracks from the inside, that they could see daylight through. It's going to be tough, but they think they can fix it. There have been a few natural gas leaks that might be related. Some college students at Appalachian State university fainted from what they thought was gas fumes today, but they aren't sure what it was. I heard there may have been some possibility of structural damage to some buildings. The hurricane tore up the coast, but Obama's quick action to evacuate and the local government's complete comprehension got most people out of harms way, at least in the south. I understand New York was hard hit... It was hard to even consider evacuating Manhattan. Much easier to evacuate the outer banks! They are used to it. It happens there all the time, plus, it's not that heavily populated, even with tourist trade as virtually any part of New York City.
I think overall I am in better spirits... I like my goats. We are getting a new refrigerator tomorrow... my cool looking brown vintage 1970's one bit the dust. I liked that one, but oh well... this time we are getting a brand new one. It was on sale, so we got a great deal.
Cool that Lan is taking philosophy too...

We're watching Babylon 5 in the class. I'm not entirely sure yet why, but I'm beginning to understand why. There's a LOT of ideas in the show that are very interesting. The prof is having us play a new game too, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It's strange having a game used in a class like this.
Good to hear you're doing better. Ash has been poking around keeping me informed, but mainly keeping to herself. She almost refuses to use my body for the moment. She said I've become too dependant on it... I guess she's right. meh...
What's the plan for the goats? If you don't plan on using them for food, keep them away from the greeks and hungarians!
I'm being yelled at by my boss I needa get back to work.

Hi Lan, That is exciting about the video games being used in the course. It seems unusual, but I guess with video games taking our culture by storm, it really isn't. There was a professor in one of our NC colleges who taught an entire semester on the Andy Griffith show.
They use all kinds of strange things. I understand that they even used the local things to do paper I wrote got used in a journalism class which is kind of interesting, considering they used is as an example of a style I wasn't even familiar with. Shoot I never even took journalism. LOL Anyway it sounds interesting but I'd be lost in there because I don't play video games much.
Our goats are eating the poison Ivy out of our yard. I used to keep it cut because I wasn't strongly allergic, but I became more sensitive to it a few years back, and so I have not been able to deal with the stuff efficiently, and weed killer just doesn't do the job. The rest of the family is very sensitive already so there's been no way to cut it back for years, and it has advanced into our lawn.
Turns out, goats love poison ivy. With ours it seems to be their favorite, but they are also eating the honeysuckle and sticker vines that grow in with it. They have eaten more poison ivy than I could dream of cutting without having a trip to the doctor.
Maybe next year, once we get used to taking care of them, we will try breeding them so that the females will give milk. In that case we might sell the offspring, and that might involve Greeks, but more than likely Mexicans, since they are more common around here. These are milk goats and so since my oldest daughter has become lactose intolerant, it would be nice to have.
Bear and I talked about it and have decided to gradually make our farm more of a farm, with more livestock and possibly a well thought out garden. I've been looking into raising catfish as well. We are working on sort of re-building things around here, but the first step is to clean up the house and clear the ever encroaching weeds.
