I've been feeling really ticked off... so I wrote a letter to my Senator, cause he sent me a newsletter... which ticked me off even more. Senators make good punching bags. LOL
Hi Senator Burr,
I got your e-mail newsletter, and would like to reply. The People of North Carolina, and other states need help, and all we get from you is a newsletter saying you can't afford it. I say sometimes you can't afford not to.
If your child needs surgery, in order to live, will you not find a way to pay for it, whether you can AFFORD it or not? I would imagine so, but sometimes it costs so much that parents CAN'T pay for it. Not now, considering they are unemployed, and lost their insurance. Will we let our American children die, over petty politics, and greedy corporations?
I agree that the bill passed through the Senate is not that great, but only because Republicans like you took the backbone out of it, by opposing public option. Senator Burr, this is not the third world, and children who need medical care should be able to get it. Normally we'd have insurance through employment, but there are no jobs... and people are really suffering.
I admit we'd have to cut the abuses and the overpricing, but if the overall cost of healthcare were forced down, and the greed and abuses stopped, then enough would be saved on medicare to pay for the rest of us. Stop paying for unnecessary extranious care. Stop the profiteering by insurance companies, drug companies, and hospitals, and then medical care would be less expensive.
Something needs to be done about this... something that might hurt the insurance companies, something that might cost the government... in the short run at least, but in the long run, we will all be better off.
The government is fat... many people including yourself are living well off that system, but here in NC people are ss you say tightening their belts. The government isn't starving to death, and dying for need of minor surgery, but it's people are.
If you were really worried about the national debt, then why not turn down your sallary? Why not turn down your own government paid for health care? Better yet sware off the war mongering, and forbid presidents from 'pre-emptive strikes.' The war in Iraq was far more expensive than this bill.
Corportions are choking us out, and making small business difficult. What we need are import tarraffs, and stiff penalties for American companies who export our jobs to third world countries. What we need is to produce things HERE in the US, and sell them here in the US... rather than expect the Americans to support the world with their consumerism...
What none of you corporate and government people seem to realize is that if you keep stealing from the poor and giving to the rich, while giving them no means of supporting themselves, eventually the gravy train will end for all of the rich. Unemployed people can't pay taxes or buy goods. Sick people who can't afford medical care... or food for that matter die. So really you can't afford NOT to help the citizens of North Carolina. We need heslth care, but more than anything else we need good paying jobs. More jobs means more taxes. Imported goods cost us all, both rich and poor in the long run. The days of the American Consumer supporting the whole world are OVER till we can get JOB.
WE need jobs and health care. The rest will take care of itself, so stop fretting about the budget in 100 years, and start worrying about the people now, or our children won't be here in 100 years, to worry about paying taxes.
