Well, I figured it was about time I posted something else here. Posted here are my memories of my past life as a Unicorn, and more will come, I hope. c: I'll have you know, they mostly come about while I listen to music, so if that does happen, I'll post the song title and artist along with it. If you're interested in hearing what I was listening to.
First Memory: "Carnage"
Song: "To Victory" from the 300 soundtrack
"Flee, run and hide!"
Instantly alert, I struggled to my feet from where I was lying. My dam's harsh bugle still sounded in my ears, buzzing like a maddened hornet.
"Why?" I whinnied back, stomping a foreleg.
Brassy cries pierced the air from far away; the tension was growing tangible. "Now, Irathray! Into the woods where they cannot find you!" At this time, my dam flew to my side, dancing on her hooves and nudging my side. I remember her coat resembled the color of the fog that blanketed our valley that week. She nipped at my hindquarters and uttered a grating sound from her horn. "Go NOW!"
The look in her eyes terrified me, and I ran. Millions of thoughts swarmed in my mind, each of them more horrible than the one before it. My glory raced around in the valley, screeching and galloping and falling. Falling? For a moment I faltered, and skidded to a stop. My breath caught as I took a moment to look and see....No! This cannot be! Encircling my band of kin, it was those two-legged creatures - man! Hacking and slicing and gouging at my fellows! To my far right, my sire was fending off two or three of the humans. I let out a shrill cry of concern, not only for him, but for my close companion. To this day, I still do not know his name or what happened; but I do remember the haunting sight of his blood. Like a crimson river it gushed down his rippling, silvery sides, covering the dapples on his hindquarters. "Run, oh run, now!" I pleaded.
Whizzz! Screeching in pain, I bucked wildly as an arrow pierced my side through to my lung. Screeching, I tried to dislodge the agonizing weapon - but to no avail. My eyes rolled up into my head, and for a moment, I thought I was going to pass out. But my dam's words came back into my head, and blindly I spun on my hooves toward the forest. I had to get there, no matter what!
Faster and faster I ran, streaking across the field. Everywhere I turned, everywhere I looked, never had I seen such carnage. My stomach writhed at the gore-slicked grass and the sights. The stench of death and blood filled my nostrils, and my mind spiraled out of control. But then, there it was! The edge of the forest - I could make it! My legs burned, threatening to collapse under my weight as I leapt over fallen bodies. The wind whistled in my ears, and it was just that which was my downfall, for I could not hear them. Suddenly, a crushing force rammed into my side. The impact threw me to the ground, and I screamed in pain as the arrow cut through my body, breaking off as I fell on it.
Winded, I tried to trumpet and squeal as strong hands pulled at my withers, mane, head. One tried to cover my nostrils, but I lunged and bit him. There were more, and more, and more! Lashing out with my hooves, I managed to get in my torn lungs a breath for a shattering cry. I could feel them plunge a dagger into my shoulders, but I could not move! They were too strong! One man grasped the root of my horn in one hand, and it flared with a brilliant light. My heart leapt in my throat. This could not be happening! But it was. With his other hand, he had a blade. I twisted my head to look at him and saw the absence of all things good in his eyes. A cruel smile set his face. With a tight grip around my horn, he plunged the knife into its base and tore it from my brow. (It grows fuzzy here).
My breathing is shallow and my vision blurs. All around me I could hear the piercing shrieks of my kin, and they grew fainter and fainter. Though it was not my heart that was stabbed, it would have been an easy death were it so. But without my horn, it was slow and painful. Wheezing, I collapse to the ground and feel the blood pool around my head. My heart beat slower and slower (grows fuzzy here, too), and finally…I died.
D: Depressing memory, methinks.
