Please don't double post, try to fit it all in one post, and if you come up with more, edit the post and stick it in there.
PS: not tryin' to be mean, just sayin'

Oh! Here is something I always wanted to know! Why shouldn't people double post? What happens when people are double posting? I'm not being sarchastic or anything like that. I just honestly never knew why it was a rule on some forums. I know some moderators complain about it, but i have no idea why it is a problem. Does it mess up something in the programing of the site? I've always been curious about that, but I never got around to asking anyone who might know. If anyone knows what happens when you double post please answer.

Say there's someone who got into the habit of double posting(and the forum they were on didn't have a prob. with it) they might just continuously double post on a post and it could Make the post harder to traverse. It can also just be flat out annoying when someone's constantly like: "Yea so I just ate some chicken" and then they realize they shoulda added something and they're like "Oh yea, and it was good" IT just basically keeps the board from getting hard to traverse(especially on more popular boards).

Ok, well that makes sense too. I thought maybe it messed with the programing itself. Anyway, if you can squeeze it into the former post then that would be good. It isn't any big deal, but it might keep things neater if you can. I am not really good at organization myself. We don't have any iron clad rule about it, but especially for short posts, why not combine them? Now for those long ones, I think breaking it up into two posts might not be a bad idea, if it doesn't gum up pro-board software. That was the main thing I was worried about. There is a size limit on posts, and I have hit it a couple of times, and not known quite what to do.
If anyone else knows of any technical problem with double posting please advise, because I wanted to post a story, and it won't fit in one message.

It doesn't mess with software or anything. But, like you said, it would make sense to double post if what would be one post won't fit. Just Post the story in several posts.

Heehee, on my forum most of the double postings occur when sites are running slowly and people hit the reply button four or five times, and then of course they'd happened to type either something REALLY short or REALLY long. Some people with slow loading pages don't like to wait the extra ten minutes because of the needless posts, which is understable. Most forums consider double posting just when you've posted the same message over and over and over again, not three diffrent parts to a long message. I'm not particularly irked by it, not as much as I am by constant bumping.
And I can understand what both of them say. >.>
