Okay..so I went to aninterview int he city today right? And I was really early...like 20minutes early, and as soon as I came out of the subway, I asked the newstand guy where Madison ave was and then bought a pack of gum. So as I headed to my right, towards Madison Ave, I saw through peripheral vision this man handing out booklets and I decided to look at it and saw it had something on it about Yoga.
So I go 'Oooo' to myself and take it from him and he asks me quickly if I know about yoga and I say yes, I know of SahajaYoga and Kundalini...a friend of mine told me about that and he was impressed, and we started talking about what I do and then he says there's this place in the village where I could get some assistance witht he kundalini and then we talk some more...BTW this guy is a MONK, sohe says, and we're talking and I give him a donation and am given another book which goes into the practices of certain types of Yoga and such.
So I get to the office, and I read the books:
Sexual Gratification is a big NO NO.....meat is big No NO....materialistic things of course is a big no no (greed)...the woman, in ancient practices, was to be worshipped as a goddess with high regards and respect-then it was 'modified' to that she is to be devoted to her other half (husband) and protected by the men in the family-and now it's as it is today, where women have literally no freedom whatsoever because of an ever evolving view of the patriarchy of today in the East.
So, you have to totally devote yourself to ..... Krishna, I believe it is (i don't have the book next to me at the moment), give yourself to the scriptures in order to become a yogi, which takes a very, very long time.
What does this have to do with Yoga? And the title of this thread?
Yoga is a good way to open the mind....take it a step further and then well you've got an interesting religious regimen to follow.....
I just thought it odd for me to bump into a Monk of all days....
I gave a hungry boy a dollar....that felt refreshing ;D He wasn't there when I got to the city, but he was as I was leaving..the monk was there as I got to the city, but wasn't there as I was leaving.
;D
