I talked to the fox woman... She trusts me but she will not yet talk to Lan. I feel distrust and possibly fear when the conversation drifts towards him. She trusts you too. Perhaps she said why she doesn't trust Lan to you? I don't know. She's not ready to talk to him yet... I really can't get a whole lot out of her except that she wants her village taken care of before she herself is. THis is admirable and I will see what I can do.
She didn't say why at all. She only said she wanted to talk to you first. I sensed that she was uneasy about talking to Lan, but she said she would when she had finished talking to you. When I first mentioned Lan she said No!! and sounded frightened. Like Oh No, not him! Then when I mentioned you she said she'd like to talk to you, and she'd talk to Lan after. Perhaps she needs to tell you something first, which she hasn't yet gotten up the nerve to say.
She did put a lot of emphasis on kinship, and feeling close to those she felt related to, and there were degrees of closeness with her. It is possible that she mistrusts Lan because he isn't related to her, or because she feels no link or commonality with him. It could also be that she blames him for the quarantine. I gather she didn't like being quarantined. She felt trapped, overly crowded and caged. I gather they all found the quarantine unpleasant and frightening. I'm not saying it wasn't necessary, but they felt locked away and forgotten.
All this is based on what I empathed though, she didn't actually say anything against Lan, or let me know why she wanted to talk to you first.
I'll be happy to help with the other foxes if I can. I do want to try. You can bring them to the castle or I will go where they are, but you must guide me because I do not know where they are.
