IF WE HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY, IT IS NOT TO PICK WHO BEST REPRESENTS US, BUT TO REPRESENT OURSELVES OUTRIGHT!!!
THAT is what i am doing, by bitching up a storm online. that is a higher responsibility than picking our slave drivers.
Get a clue, you have to take responsibility for your SELF before you can start even THINKING about taking responsibility for others, by voting in a person to represent an idea!
Taking responsibility for yourself is completely separate from "bitching up a storm online." There's a reason no one takes on-line petitions seriously, and it's the same reason people don't take a blank username on a miscellaneous message board seriously. In the physical is where you take responsibility for yourself, not on-line where anyone can be anything on any given day. You can say whatever you want, but at the end of the day you're still sitting in front of a monitor, as opposed to doing something about it.
If we're fighting a system peacefully, we're doing it the Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi way, who BTW did more than sit and complain. They took action, not PASSIVE action, but productive, ACTIVE, peaceful action. There are people out there right now who not only believe in something, but are showing people what they believe in. There are people donating what they can to organizations life Heifer International who are trying to provide basic needs to people across the world. There are people working in the Habitat for Humanity who are trying to help people get housing who otherwise could not afford it. There are people out there literally building houses out of self-processed cow shit (ingenious, BTW, taking a thought and shaping it into reality) just so people who can't afford it otherwise will have a home to live in. THOSE are the people who are making a difference, who are expressing their free will to matter. They are doing more than representing themselves, they are representing and helping others who can't do for themselves.
I personally am not very tolerant towards the national-based complaints from people who do not vote nationally, but I am sympathetic towards those who did vote and their candidate didn't win. On the flip side, I'm happy America is a nation that allows you to voice your negative, unhelpful thoughts. Certain countries have taken that right away, and speaking out (even in a manner that will make no difference) would get you arrested or even killed.
I didn't vote, only because I am not old enough, but my candidate won anyway. I still view McCain as a classy man, even if I don't like those he associated with, or some of his supporters. He just wasn't the candidate for me at the time.
To me, I see it as contradictory to only represent yourself, and yet still expect everyone to do everything for everyone else for free. I don't just want to represent myself, I want to represent those who cannot represent themselves for whatever reason. I want to let my voice be heard not just in my county, state, etc, but in my NATION. I AM an American, and I'm damn proud to be, because for all it's flaws, this country is extremely forgiving, and in the end willing to adapt. But if no one fights to let people know what's wrong (in the ways that actually make a difference), no one will be any the wiser.
I personally would love to live in a Native American nation, however I have found that without a firm government, rapists and beaters are allowed to run free and repeat, repeat, repeat. There are men and women within the nation actively trying to fight this, but it is made even harder due to conflicting community representation. Because of that sad fact, I prefer to stay in the States, where I am at least assured some sort of consequence to such violent actions.
I am not willing to participate in currency economies because it goes against the most basic of human rights to self sufficiency. animals have more freedom and respect than do human beings.
I really am trying to at least understand where you are coming from, even if I do not agree with your opinion nor find a lot of your ideas/ideals feasible, but then you say things that just make my stomach churn and my temper flare. This is completely, 100 percent UNTRUE. Animals have a VERY small percent of rights, especially compared to human beings. In the minds of most, animals only have the right to die peacefully and it is a struggle every day to even make sure THAT right is seen through. Since when did a horse have the right to be fed? In some areas a horse does not have a right to food, it has a right to food on a property. A horse does not have a right to proper hoof care, exercise, proper diet and nutrition. A horse doesn't even seem to have a right to be free of abuse. These are all things people are fighting for. If these were rights, you would not have horses starving, having skis for toes (there's more to horse management than feeding it), having saddle sores, being sent to slaughter across our borders for a cruel, inhumane death. It can be ridiculously hard to get someone punished for starving their horses, and even harder still to make it so that person is banned from having animals to prevent them from doing it again. Only recently were animals in California allowed enough space to move, let alone roam free.
You as a human in this country have the opportunity to communicate, eat, sleep, do something, do nothing, seek shelter, move outside, move inside, so don't you dare say animals have more rights and freedom than you as a human being do. No one is shipping you off to slaughter because you haven't personally made yourself useful to them, but this happens to animals everyday, often times animals who have already worked their asses off making a wage for their human owners and are already in sorry states at time of abandonment. Only recently are people being punished for bringing their horses to slaughter auctions in sorry states (and it doesn't even have a consequence the majority of the time!). FAMILY PET (horses are still considered legally livestock in most places) desertion rates are on the rise, for heaven's sake! Animals do NOT have it better off by any stretch of the imagination.
And I love WoW's commercials. >.>
Also, Obama is not the Anti-Christ: not enough people love him, too many people oppose him, etc.
Yeahhh, long time no see, y'all.
