I know that stress, Psychological, emotional, ethical/moral blockages can hinder spiritual growth....But i was curious if items (necklaces, rings, etc) could harm such growth as well.
For example, say a child is spiritually inclined, then gets a regular silver necklace and it all slowly goes away. Could the necklace itself be the culprit, possibly charmed with some sort of spell?
Or in general, does anyone know if there has been words of any charms that can inhibit spiritual growth (or slow chakra and energy development etc...) ?
While i am at it, what do you all think could weaken someone's spirit besides social comformity and fear based logic?

Amulets could be made to hinder spiritual growth, but I think that the child's power would exceed the amulet, and fruther that the child would sense it and just get rid of the amulet, or refuse to wear it. Still I guess anything is possible.
Any item can be "blessed" before being given as a gift. A blessing done by someone who doesn't understand the situation might possibly be worded the wrong way. Any word spoken to or about the child could act as a curse or blessing, with or without any sort of material transfer of property. I would actually suspect a subconscious suggestion over and object, but either way...
Items can be charged with energy too by wearing the item, or holding it and infusing your energy into it. I suppose if the giver's energy were opposite that of the new owner it could have a negative impact, provided the new owner used it, and never sought to "clean it" or make it theirs.
I have worked as a deliverance minister, and over time I have seen a few cursed items, but usually that is just because of the energy that is all over the thing. Mirrors, often cause problems... but none of the items i have seen interfered with spiritual abilities so much as they led to attacks, and emotional problems. My teacher was very parinoid of anything used or antique, but I like antiques, so I always just cleaned them if their bothered, me and used them anyway. Usually though if I like an antique, it is the energy that attracts me in the first place. Still I have owned a few negatively charged items. I have been known to discretely but violently destroy a gift or two, but only those that I know were given with a negative intent. Usually I just clean them.
Overall I haven't seen any truely life changing items. I have seen times when a mere suggestion, words spoken in anger, or even a well meant comment served as a lifelong curse, till it was broken.
I think that in order to cause such a change though a person would have to be around the person on a regular basis, as a continuing influence. An item only goes so far, and largely an item would become charged with the wearer's energy over time so that very little of the original intent would be left anyway. Some people have very oppressive energy in their persona and presence, and that might impede growth of any and all kinds. I admit though, that usually oppression only strengthens abilities... despite attempts people make consciously and subconsciously to change their children, in the end usually the child emerges like a daisy that pushes up through concrete to bloom in the way God intended.
It is very common for early childhood abilities to fade or go dorment though. Some say it is because of social conformity, others say that it is just the nature of childhood to be "imaginiative", and it passes on its on in most cases. I tried to get rid of my own abilities. I tried to ignore them because they were overwhelming, but I never succeeded. I am not sure why not, but I could never stop seeing. I did learn to control my reactions, so I didn't freak out and show I was afraid of entities around me, and in time those visions did fade to the point I could tell what was physical and what was astral, but they never went away entirely. I've had natural ebbs and flows in my tallents, and from the time I was 8 or 9 till the time I was about 12 they did decline a lot, but then they resurfaced when I was 12 and 13. After age 13 the visions changed in character. They were more positive, and I started to understand in a more structured way.
With most people though there is a steady decline in abilities after the preschool years. I am not at all sure the cause of this is external. Even my own raw abilities have declined greatly since I was little. My understanding has increased though, so it balances mostly.
A weakening of the spirit could be very different than weakening spiritual abilities. Overly authoritarian, or abusive parents could weaken the spirit, the emotional stability and the outward persona, but I am not sure it could weaken the supernatural senses. The realization that others don't see as we do, might cause the child to ignore and eventually subliminate abilities. I've managed to do a little of that as a child.
I think it is just part of normal growth to become interested in the physical realm and distraction by this world often impedes disernment of spiritual things, even in adepts. The fear of being insane is a very powerful motivation to deny abilities. Who wants to be halucinatory? The idea that what we see isn't real, is very detrimental. The fear that it might be real kept me involuntarily vigilant though... I think most kids dismiss their abilities eventually.
In general there are ebbs and flows in abilities though. Over my 47 years I have had many times when my abilities were not up to normal standards. It comes and goes with me... but with some people it jsut fades.

Thank you very much madam for your wise words. In the future, (if you have not already) could you share how you "clean" the energy off of things? Do you use a sage stick (i think the process is called smudging) or Visualization?
It is all too sad that abilities diminish over time, I am still very curious why my own.
I was convinced i could hear angry/negative voices..but it sounded too weak to understand their words and i would see an outline of a man walking to me from the darkness (though i remember most of the goings on were at my Grandma's house...and thats easily over 70+ years old)......Though the older i got, i assumed it was my Grandfather that passed on. Hard telling.. And thats just a little of the things i experienced...but i wont go through unnecessary detail here lol.
My memory has a nice deal of "holes" in there,, So its hard to accurately pinpoint anything from the past. All i know is I used to hear/see things, recieved a regular silver necklace, and didnt hear/see things... and ever since i recieved it (atleast 12 years ago) ive never taken it off.....So i was contemplating if it was a compound effect of it just fading, or if it could be pinpointed by an object or simply due to some paranoia. Like a Spiritual Collar of the sort.
Thank you once again for your response Madam, it shined a new light on my perceptions.

For example, say a child is spiritually inclined, then gets a regular silver necklace and it all slowly goes away. Could the necklace itself be the culprit, possibly charmed with some sort of spell? The silver necklace never harmed you, it was the wish behind it by the giver. It had a link attached to it for protection: problem was the idea of "protection" downplayed magick and the like. ..I'm sorry, was that too soon? Or in general, does anyone know if there has been words of any charms that can inhibit spiritual growth (or slow chakra and energy development etc...) ? Yes. Wooden amulets, or with paper in them act as excellent bases for channeling a constant spell, charm, or spell. Silver enforces it. While i am at it, what do you all think could weaken someone's spirit besides social comformity and fear based logic? Fear and doubt. Mostly fear.

There are many ways to clean objects, and those depend on the beliefs and abilities of the individual. maybe we should start a thread on it, and see how others do it. Personally I just pray over it and get guidance on what other steps it might be necessary. Sometimes I physically wash the object in holy water. I always touch the object a lot, and always I at least wipe it clean with a cloth. It depends on the object as to what physical things are possible, but generally I pray over it, and do anything else I feel led to till it feels clean to me.
As for your necklace, I know of only one way to find out. Take it off for a couple of months and see if things change. 12 years is a long time to wear a piece of jewelry. It must have great sentimental value, but why not give it a rest. It probably does need physical cleaning, and you could kind of get away from it for a while, and then go back and see more clearly, and objectively what energy it puts off.
In general Silver is a powerful protective force. I can't help but agree with Kata that it probably isn't the silver itself, but you never know. I never had problems with it stopping my vision, but everyone is different. Depending on your nature, and abilities, I guess the silver itself could block your senses. I've never known that to happen, but I could see where it could be possible. Anyway maybe you could try taking it off and see if it helps. It wouldn't hurt to experiment a bit. Try wearing no jewelry at all, and then try stringing a moonstone on some hemp cord, with no metal at all involved. Moonstone enhances visions, especially sensing positive entities, like angels. It is said to help link people to heaven. I wear a lot of it most of the time. It wouldn't hurt to try it, and moonstone is fairly inexpensive. Crystal and rose quartz are also good as spiritual conductors. Try not wearing metal at all, just crystals on a string or hemp cord.
I don't know that this will help, but it is the only way to really find out.

HAHA! Actually I am VERY glad Kata, that you should share your logic into this topic. Thank you very much indeed and i hope to hear more of your intellect on whatever thoughts i share on this site.
Also, thanks Kim for your advice....yeah it has strong sentimental value to me, and it will be hard to part with it for a while. I never knew that Silver was a protective material ( surprisingly.....ignorance and lack of research on my part). I have no idea when or how, but i will keep an eye out for moonstone and rose quartz indeed.
Thank you all once again for speaking your words on the subject.
