So, the ultimate question: Why? Why are we here, why are we alive, what are we put on this Earth to do?
I'll tell you. To come to ONE realization, that may seem so simple but comes so difficult to be accepted by mankind.
We're no better than anything.
It's very simple, quick, and easy. So, why do people have such a problem coming to this conclusion? This thought? Arrogance.
Here is how nature works: kill or get killed. Eat or be eaten. We've created an environment outside from the rest of the animals or ourselves. It's still a constant struggle to survive unless you cheat or just plain lucky. We see this in Nature too: Packs represent strength, or you're lucky to be fast enough to steal or kill something.
Do we do this too? Yeah. All the time. Shop-lifting, robbing, etc.
So, we're no better. If you're killed in an alley, and yet you "accomplished" so much in life, what does it matter after you die? Happiness? Fullfillment? You'd think so, but not always.
It doesn't matter what grades you made in school, how much you make at your job, what kind of car and house you own. It doesn't matter if you have a goldwatch. You're DEAD. This gets you nowhere.
Now, if you were happy upon passing, then it is another story. If you happen to get these items (or have access to them) doesn't matter. You're married, have children, financially secure (or not, but able to keep a roof over your heads and food in the home), you have a job you like, or love (hopefully). Does that matter? Of course, YOU were happy. Material items and wasted time to look all special and smart (sports awards, trophies) don't matter.
What if they do? Why should they? HEY, you're an awesome singer, here's a trophy. Yay. Do you love to sing? If so, then congrats. Did you need that trophy? No, but it's something you got for doing something you love. You don't need it, you never would have. You never will, but it is nice, sure.
So..the meaning of life: you're no better. Not compared to a rat, lion, squirrel, not even the spider you just killed.
If you think you're better cuz you can squashe something, or take some blunt/sharp/projectile (such as a gun) item and kill it, you're wrong. It either meant you were stronger or just cheated. Guns are a bit of cheating, killing a lion that you otherwise may not have been able to.
So what, you're stronger. What does it matter? You get to live, sure. But you're not superior. Nor was that lion. You're equal in Nature, nothing more. Skills etc may lead to be able to survive, or get away, sure. Yay for you. So how are you better then? You're not.
I, personally, have realized this. It doesn't matter what grades I may make in school, I can still pass and do what I wish: be teacher, social worker, or even president. Bush proved that. Sad isn't it? But that is the meaning of freedom. You are ABLE to. Right or wrong then comes into play, but you're still ABLE to. Does freedom justify killing? Lest it is in self-defense, or for a greater good, then maybe. Depends on the situation..for the greater good part.
So, now to define life and religion(or simply faith) as it plays in our lives.
Very simple, I'll use Christianity *GASP* for an example.
The idea behind this is that God is your lord, your king, your father. Christ saved us. Okay, let's go with that.
Now, let us figure out why. God is our Guide towards perfect Balance. Hm, not light? No. Is God light? Hm, He could be. *Note: I'm not Christian.*
But why balance? We need to exist. Harmony (the yin-yang symbol visualizes this) says there needs to be balance. Good has darkness, Darkness has good. Together they run, created balance in our life. The right and wrong. The good and bad. The liked and disliked...and vice versa. Matter of opinion on all of these, but they exist. Nothing is set in stone.
So, God is our Guide to perfect Balance. Christ has told God (upon his death, and before) that mankind needs a chance, another way to realize the meaning of life, why we're here. Why they should do as needed (for some, it is follow Christ, others it may be being Pagan in some form, whatever). "Follow me and I shall guide you to God." That's what Christianity says. Jesus, in this form, spared us from God's wrath and let us have more time to think. To live life and realize the truth. We're no better.
Do what you want, that is the Freedom in our world we aim to get. Why? Freedom is another step to balance. No need to be oppressed (so many are not able to do as they wish, even if they realize the truth: their ruler is no better. No one is, and nothing is). Oppression is just a result of corruption, greed for power. That greed will get that person nowhere, it won't matter when they die. Will they get punished after death? Sure. Hell, limbo, living as a roach. Karma.
Ah, that brings me back to God. God is our Guide. Or actions may reward, or punish. Regardless of what we do. Accept it, shit happens. It's life. It's Balance. Hence the idea of karma. Is there ANY set way karma works? Hell no. So you choose to believe in it or not, I don't care. It's still there. Maybe that's the "act of God" upon Earth, or just Nature balancing herself.
So..we're no better. Realize this, accept this. It doesn't matter what religion you are (you follow your path, no way is the wrong way). Religion exists for you. Religion itself doesn't have problems, many (or most) of the followers have it. Christianity is not horrid or wrong. The people that made it seem that way are at fault, blame them. Not all followers of the individual religion is at horrid fault. That's not true. Many are. Don't blame the religion, blame the people that are at fault.
...Faith. Faith exists with or without religion, hence spirituality. You may worship any higher power should you wish, or have faith you (and people) can be better. Don't expect, keep the hope. Faith should never die, it's our reason to live. It's why and how we love, care, judge, LIVE. It matters NOT what form Faith comes in, not at all. It's there, embrace it. Live, do what makes you happy. What you need to, to get through life. Be happy with it. Do what needs to be done if you hate it, continue what you love. If it's singing, sing in the shower! No NEED to be in a choir, though you can. If you're happy with it, go with it. Never stop.
I graduated high school barely, but I did not need to be the top person. I'm still gonna find a way to go to college and do what I want that makes me happy. What I want to do: sing. Teach. Help. Play music. Live.
I'm no better than anyone else in the world, or any animal or creature. I'm no better than even GOD, and vice versa. It's perfect Balance, no need to be "better." It doesn't matter if you can do something, anything, better than I can, or at all. You're no better than me. Congrats, you may be a faster thinker. You're famous. I don't care, you're no better. If you're happy, all the better, as long as it something you care for. Fame shouldn't matter, but if what you do that made you famous (or even if it doesn't) makes you happy (such as singing, dancing, writing, whatever) then keep doing it.
