sounds tempting dont it (for some at least ^_^)
yes immortality-living for as long as you choose for so long we (insert all aspiring immortals here) have wanted, dreamed and tried to obtain such power, sadly its been alot more wanting and dreaming than actual trying.
this is my offer, to all those who want immortality (dont be afraid to say you do, im being dead serious about this, and niether will other poeple look down on you) in this thread we will post ideas and possible techniques or spells, rutials, etc for obtaininig this dream, we will take each idea and discuss it, if we feel it has a possibility then it will be taken futher.
i myself am not interested, but will help for the sake of knowledge,
we will need a person to head this focus group and of course some ideas ^_^
can start with the well known ones first, such as the pilosophers stone, etc
this is the age of aquries!! the golden age!!! (it began this year actually^_^) so enough dreaming, let us be RENOWNED in this world as MAGES! (it aint impossible)
p.s in case you wondering about the ages its: bronze age - the age of man metal age - the age of religion silver age - the age of machiens (technology) golden age - the age of enlightnment

Well in all honesty and as you know this is one of my interest area's and something I'd like to achieve. First technique I know and have been practicing is affrimations and visualisation every morning when you wake up, my affrimation has changed slightly as I moved along but I ended up with a simple one, "I am infinite, and I choose not to age a day past 25 physically"
Yes, I know I'm not 25 yet but only 18 but by the time I become 25 this is an ingrained habbit as much as breathing, a new instinct and one that will work for many more years after I am 25. Anybody got any other idea's?

Hmm. In response to the original post, please don't take me as harsh or anything. I'm just.. the other argument. =)
I don't want immortality at all. I despise the concept and it sickens me to think of it. If I could choose the length of my life, it would be considerably shorter (more or less for modern reasons than for personal ones, alzheimers, arthritis, cancer, etc) than the typical human lifespan. The power to live forever can be a blessing or a curse. If you had no choice but to live forever, I'm certain you would be miserable. If you had a choice, I'm sure you'd enjoy it for a while. Whatever wonderous ideas you have are surely yours, but in the end, I'm sorry to say you will more than likely learn as countless others have that all things will end. All things die.
You have, however, forgotten several ages. The Dark Age, the New Age, the Industrial Age, the Revolutionary Age, the Renaissance, the Age of Wars, the Economic Age, and others that may have yet to be named.
It's all finite. Even this universe is finite.

i dont want it either ^_^, but what i do want is the knowleged of it, which is why i will help others obtain it.
if one were to obtain immortality through superb gene an cellar control then problems like that would be very easy to rid yourself off, ive looked into the enzyme "telomerase" which is in fact an imortality cell, jus google the name and u'll see ^_^
^_^ im refering to the ages as seen by the aztecs and mayans and ancient greeks and egyptions, each age lasting about +- 1000 years

My thoughts about how to be infinite... We are infinite in many different ways. Like I have lived a million times before and I will live again that same number if not more. My soul is blessed like every other so therefore I will live forever and even if this is my last life if I am blessed to have children I will pass my life force on to them. So I will live forever even if I don't want to. And there will always end up being a person of my standing. Even if I do fall off the face of the earth there will be someone to take my place. But how to make your body forever? Who would want that? I mean I don’t want to own a rotting body forever, even if it was still good I would want to see my scars. Besides I am not a big fan of this body. It’s a little out shape and it’s not me. Because I make it me, and if I am living forever then I making this body as long as I am and I am not sure it could take it. And what about love? I mean who would want to live alone forever and there are very few people that I would want to spend the next million years with. Rock on but to be honest, I want to age. I want to look at my self at 65 and see my wrinkles and age spots. I want to feel the pain of arthritis from making to many meals and dresses for my children and grandbabies. I want to see me. When I look in the mirror I don't see me. I see a very pretty young thing but I don't see me. Perhaps a little in my eyes but they still are wet with the dew and still very new. So no, age come a get me...I'll be waiting for it. Now that I have made my self sound like a fool, I have to say there are spells in the other realms that can and will give one longer life here. Though it does tend to jade and change a person. And there are spells here that can give you an endless life though I don’t know of any off the top of my head. To be honest if you live right and that means really live and enjoy life you will get more good years. And if you believe you will like to 100 you will. So peace, love and all that stuff... And I honestly think that very few people on this board want to live forever. But then again all of this is just my thoughts...

I am already immortal in the ways that matter, but more than ready to discard this tunic of flesh. I for one don't fear the reaper. I do not consider physical existance important. Spiritual existance is so much more interesting. I have both currently, but I definately consider the real life the astral one. I see the physical plane as an illusion, or maybe a prison. There is no such thing as death. I don't believe in it so why should I worry about it. It means nothing to die physically. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Right now I live in both worlds, I see both. Sometimes it is hard to balance the two, but wheter incarnate or disincarnte I have a full spiritual life. If I die I will reincarnte eventually, but in the mean time I will be free to enjoy my astral existance.
"People think that the body is life, and that they have no feelings apart from it, but the soul is life, and no physical love could ever match what can be had in the spirit." Gary

In reply to all the replys all these things are true but its YOUR truth, some would rather die some dont, i will not judge anyone else because of what they believe or want, if someone wants immortality then i will happyily help them if not then i will help them in other ways, unless they dont want help of course ^_^ besides i think we discredit this form and body too much anyway, if you consider the fact that its ur own mind that shapes it, it kinda makes you think dont it

Yes, I know full well of telomerase.. It's interesting, to say the least. However, there is a reason it stops when it does, and I don't think it should be messed with.

Though I don't have interest in immortality, I do find divine health a worthwhile goal, and that does lengthen life... though not indefinately. The concept of divine health is faith based, and I have never mastered it, but I know a few people who have. I used to work with a lady who didn't have so much as a cold or even a headache for about 40 years. Maybe you could use the divine health principle, to work towards immortality, but I don't know.

i believe we are inherently immortal unless we choose to die, or are forcably killed, and that one is debatable, the battle between pain and the will to live.
that's all it really is, is the will to live. if your will surpasses the pain and suffering and you would rather live with a bullet to the head than to die without the pain, chances are you'll live.
but if the pain from a bullet to the brain is too great for you to bear, it will kill you.
far as i see it, we are only as mortal as we are willing to be, and only as immortal as we are willing to be.
edit: i just read KG's last post, and yeah, it's like that, divine health leads to divine life'span'.
additionally, there is ascention, leaving the physical body without it's dying... per se.

I believe that we are already immortal~we all are. The soul lives on even after the body dies (the soul *can be* destroyed, but it's very difficult). This body...is not me, and I don't care much for it. It is simply a vessel, in some ways a home, in some ways a prison. I am immortal; I don't need to live forever Although when I leave this eartly plane I will miss the junk food ;D

Immortality, for those who wish to not die, isn't it motivated by fear of death?
I am immortal. I live and die, physically. Each time I am reborn, I have the option to recall all the knowledge I need and want from past lives.
I am mortal. I live and I die.
I am.

Not really the fear of death, but for me it's more of the loss of the knowledge I gained in this life. In general there is the time between incarnations should I choose to incarnate again. After that, growing up to an age where you once again realize, following that, gettign to teh age where you can research. Now lets estimate it, somewhere I heard teh average time between most incarnations is 16 years or so, yes, I could be severly wrong on that fact but lets asume that's truth, then 9 months before you are born, so lets take that as a year, then 6 years or so to realize you're different, followed by another 6 or so years before you gain unrestricted access to the internet to do research, now another 6 to 8 years to gain enough insight to get to understand all the base concepts again, etc. So in total death results in the loss of what, 16+1+6+6+6=35 years worth of time, not to mention then the time it would take to remember your past life and even then the details will probably be fuzzy resulting in knowledge of well modern average lifespan is between 60 to 80 years old. So lets say 80 to be optimistic. So the way I see it death results in the loss of abotu 100 years worth of time & experience in total. Whereas if one skips death entirely they gain 35 years worth of experience over a person who dies and comes back. So overall immortality is useful as less time is lost and in general used pretty much more effectively. That's my opinion though, it may not be right for other people but the work which I want to do and achieve will take more than 1 "natural" lifetime. When I die, I do, not much to it. Whether I will choose to move to a "highier" plein or vibrational level or whether I'll come back to this plein and reincarnate. That's something I will choose then, at this point in time though, life with this body has many more possibilities and is a lot more fun and enjoyable then people give this world credit for

You're totally eliminating the experience after/during death and before birth.
