Last night, I had a really weird dream. I was with my dad again. We had... not made up, but decided to try to be a family again, for the benefit of my younger sisters. This happened about midway through the dream, and stands out.
I was on a balcony. A truck drove by, and it had four jungle animals in the bed: a giraffe, 2 lions (they looked different from each other) and something else, possibly an elephant. The first lion (which looked like a normal lion) left the giraffe alone, but the second lion ripped its head and neck off and tossed it onto the balcony before me. Horrified, I ran to get my father to do something about it. He laughed like it was no biggie. He couldn't understand why I was so upset. He did remove it though.
It was really vivid, compared to the rest of the dream and the feeling of revulsion stayed with me when I awoke.

I have meditated and reserached this dream of yours for most of the day. I was very facinated by it. IT raises a question that I have had for a while... the two lions. I do not fully understand the two lions but it is significant.
The Giraffe is a symbol for one of a greater perspective. One who can see for miles, and understand from a higher POV.
There are many references to lions in almost all sacred literature, mythology, and Also there are lion headed men and lion headed beasts, lion headed serpents and lion headed Gods.... Lions are very symbolic of a variety of things, but mostly of strength and power. They are always Kings, Gods, priests and prophets who hold power over others. They are unnaturally strong, and have positions of authority.
There are in the bible and other sacred texts from all over the world, regal, royal, just, pure and holy Lions, and there is another kind of lion, refered to as a roaring lion, and or ravening lion. In other words a hungry desperate lion, and a satisfied and contented lion are two very different things.
Strong healthy lions feed on gazelles and other hervavores, and they have no problem making kills and they have no natural preditors. They hunt in groups called prides. When a lion gets weak, old, and alone, as often happens with males especially, they can loose their teeth, or slow down with age and become less able to hunt. They get ejected from the pride, because males fight, and only the strongest males have a part in the pride... The lone and cast out lion is called a roaring lion, or a ravening lion. (ravening means he is hungry, greedy, and desperate for food.)
A ravening lion is one who cannot make a normal kill, chasing healthy live game, as is normal for lions, and so they tend to kill humans much more often than lions who live in prides. This is the root of using the symbol of a ravening lion for beings like Satan.
In general there are holy lions in most mythos. Lions are associated with English Kings, Judah, Sekhmet, Dionysus, Phoebus, Cybele, and Artemis, Vishnu, Buddha and even Jesus Christ. These are all seen as GOOD lions. Beautiful, and strong.
The other kind of lion, the ravening ones also have their mention in spiritual literature. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
In my research today, I found this, which I generally agree with, and says it better than I could.
So really my understanding of your dream is that while some lions, (Kings, leaders, Gods) are willing to lay down with the Giraffe, desperate hungry lions are not. Through out both physical and spiritual history, those with a higher perception and perspective are often persecuted, by desperate and greedy graspers of power. Examples are various accusations of heracy and witchcraft, in European history. Educated women were especially suspect. There are many examples though, including the crusifixion. Even Bill Gates, has been snubbed a lot, and experienced the odd government persecution of Microsoft in 2000, for having a monopoly on Windows, and that was an example of wealth and power rejecting "new money" gained by someone for being smart, and not born in their circles. In the world power is handed down, and gained through natural channels of inheritance and aquisition through anything from brute strength to enormous wealth. These strong wealthy people resent when someone with low beginnings, and smaller proportions gains power because they are smart, or spiritually adept. If the smart one, starts cutting in on their profits, they become insecure and like hungry lions, and they seek to overthrow the smart one.
The lack of reaction from your father, and the elephant also, just shows the general apathy that most of these kinds of abuses are met with. The general population is fearful, and apathetic, and will not stand up to help the giraffe, when it is cut down by a lion. those of us who identify with the giraffe are upset.
So in your dream you have a good healthy lion, secure and full, and you have a twisted starving pissed off lion, jealous of the higher vantage point of the Girraffe. the Giraffe can see for miles, but he is unable to defend against the lion. You end up with the head of the giraffe at your feet and you are horrified. No one else cares.
This dream can be interpreted to mean persecution, on any level. It could be personal, or even an internal struggle, or it could be refering to the entirity of history, and no doubt the future. It happens all the time, and in every situation. It is universal... hungry lions cut down giraffes. I do not know if this refers to a personal situation involving you, or if this refers to everything that has ever happened in the world, but it happens... and we as smart spritual and psycic type people, who do not have money and worldly power, are the giraffes. Sometimes we are also represented as the good lions, who hold spiritual power, but generally.... at least in this context... we are giraffes.
