Okay. Recently I discovered that something I thought was just insomnia was just meditation happening. When I lay down to sleep, my mind starts buzzing intensely about everything. Like, not about common worries, but sometimes I'll think up philosophies, think about love, once or twice I even invented a math equation.
Now, when this is happening, sometimes I'll get carried into a past memory or a fantasy or just thought. When this happens, I am fully conscious and aware inside of a lucid dream. Except...I'm awake...and thinking about it snaps me back to reality.
Yes I understand what you are saying, and you are correct. Your conscious mind quiets and allows your subconscious and the universe to communicate with your conscious, and that could be considered a form of naturally occuring meditation. I find that period a great time for meditation and have always used it... If I am not so tired I fall asleep. LOL
The problem most people have with meditation is being able to clear your mind. Because you have an extended period between waking and sleeping... due to your, "insominia," you have a perfect and natural opportunity for meditation, which takes place naturally for you. You are blessed in that way. It used to take me a full hour to go to sleep, but lately I stay up late, and just pass out when I hit the pillow. I miss that time, you describe, though sometimes I meditate at the computer monitor.
Well yes, but it depends on the quality, since you are doing this naturally. I think, depending on content, feeling, and intensity, it could be called a vision. Visioning is definately part of meditation, for most people. You can project from this state too, but you can also fall asleep and dream from this state, or get your conscious mind involved and imagine from this state. Generally you will be able to tell with practice which visions means something, and which are influenced by conscious thought. Basically you are on the right track though. This is the state that you want to cultivate, and learn to induce, at other times as well.
