As an accomplished procrastonator of some things myself, I have to ask why is this? I mean if you are like me you put off things A. Because it is something you don't like to do, or B. Because you are trying to think of a better way to do it, or C. Because you are doing something else at the time that has your attention. D. Because you are having problems with the structure of your will. E. I think sometimes I put stuff off cause I am afraid I won't do a good job. Occasionally though it is F. something that just doesn't feel right to even do, but rather than tell people no flat out I just put them off till they give up on me doing it. At least that is my list of problems that interfere with me doing things. Still some things won't wait, and I do those pretty responsibily. It helps to set up a plan, and really feel good about what you are doing, in other words knowing it is a good thing to do. I do not share your abhorance for currency itself, though I agree in principle with your reason for such a boycott. I don't share your way of dealing with the situation. As a person who is responsible for two children I honestly can't. I also value hard work, even though it may not be fun to do, and I respect those who do it, whatever method of payment they receive. I admire your choice also, since it is properly motivated, but you have to realize that what you suggest is next to impossible in today's society, and not using currency just about equals garunteed starvation. It might be possible to live this way, but I just don't see how, to live in uncompromising boycott of all forms of cash and/or work for payment. I am not saying it is impossible, but for me I think it would be. I'd find it easier to produce an elephant out of thin air in my front yard than to live without money. Of course once I was able to produce things out of thin air, then I suppose I could overcome a lot of problems, but what about utilities? They don't take elephants as payment. LOL Well that is a start, but what things are you making now? I mean have you ever made your own soap, shampoo, clothing? Do you have a spinning wheel, or weaver's loom? You could fashion these kinds of things out of wood, but they require craftsmanship, and tools of some kind. You can even make tools, but my point is that living that way is going to take a lot of work, creativity, and perhaps even magic! Gardening: You have to have seeds or sets. It also is hard work, and requires know how, and a degree of luck. The last time I make a garden, I spent almost 100 dollars on seeds, and almost none of them came up. I was out a hundred dollars, and got a few radishes. I come from a farm family, and gardening was traditional, with us, but I can honestly say that it isn't all that economically sound. You can save seeds though, but things can go wrong with that, too. Overall you have to know what you are doing, be willing to hoe an acre or two of land by hand, on a nearly daily basis, at least weekly, and also you really need a small tractor, just to do that much. Tractor needs fuel. YOu could get a horse to pull the plow, but you still need to buy a plow, and feed the horse. Farming, living off the land, and some of the aspects of communal living are hard work. Very hard physical work. I was raised in a farming community, back in the days when men were men. LOL I mean when I was a kid, men had hard bodies, and powerful muscles. They worked hard, and they got sweaty...and uh oh... I am drooling just thinking about it. Now as I look around I see guys, and they aren't the same kind of animals. I mean they stand around all slouched over, and their clothes look 4 sizes too big, but you can tell that underneath that they are soft. They are either boney and have no muscle, or they are fat. I also notice a lack of stamina when they actually try to do anything. I see young guys exhausted easily at theme parks even... what would they do if they actually had to work? If you are serious about making everything you need like Grandpa, and Grandma had to during the depression there are many things you have to do now to prepare. One you need to get yourself in excelent physical condition, and accustomed to the climate. I mean don't spend your days in air condition and heat, cause the temperature change will take its toll. 2. You need to learn all you can about how to do things. You need to research, and not just on the web. A lot of things vary from one type of soil to the next, and you need to find out how farmers worked in the area you will be working in. Still most of it is standard so you can learn the general stuff first. 3. You will need some money. I just don't see any way around that. I mean land costs, materials cost, tools cost, and you can't make something out of nothing. I am not trying to crush your dream, or to be mean about this. I am just saying that if you are serious about doing this, you need to go into it with your eyes open, knowing it isn't going to be easy. It is going to be an awful lot of work, and you are going to have to learn a lot of different things to be able to pull it off. You are also going to have to do without some things altogether, to do this, even with some compromise. Basically I am just looking at this and trying to see how you could do it. Maybe you can... I hope you can, but it will be lots of hard work. Much more so than any job the labor board would allow an employeer to ask you to do. So while I support your reasoning and ethics, I see it as a very difficult task. Even the native americans have made their compromises with money. You are a smart person, so maybe you can... but it is time to start thinking seriously about how. It won't just fall into your lap.

yeah, it's sad how much the native americans have had to compromise that's part of why i would want to try to do this on a reservation... but... i dunno, i need help as for my procrastination, i usually just dont want to do the chore, like mopping the kitchen floor, i hate doing that... lol but i usually try to remember to get it done. and for this whole living off the land thing, it's getting to be too much effort than it's worth... or im just too depressed to get off my ass and make an effort for much of anything i suspect that's the case...

Well Stoner you aren't the only one who has thought of going off the grid, but the no money thing had never occured to me, and I just don't see how to do that part.
Back in the 90's my family decided to get into preparedness. We weren't sure preparedness for what... but felt like something was going to happen. We stocked up on food, and I started looking into energy alternatives, and such. It isn't an easy thing to do, and we didn't even have the no money constraint... just not enough money to do what we wanted to do.
I do know a bit about survival techniques... but farming isn't my strong suit. I might have the genetics, but I definately have a brown thumb. I can't even keep house plants... well the cat always eats thouse... LOL
I did think of one project you could do that would be interesting for you, and might make you feel better. it is easy as pie, and wouldn't cost alot. Maybe you could adapt it to use things you already have. My grandfather had an interesting plan for growing potatoes. You get a barrel. He used a metal one 55 gallon drum, but you could probably use a big plastic garbage can as well. He cut little squares out of it but left the bottom of the square attached like a box flap. Then he filled it with moist potting soil. Then he bought potatoe bits from the seed store, or you could probably just use some old potatoes that went bad, and stuffed them into the barrell slots so it would be as if they were planted on level soil, but a lot more convenient. All you have to do is keep the soil watered, and at the end of the season, you dump the barrel out, and you have a whole barrel of potatoes, no digging. All you have to do is find out the growing season, or how long they have to stay in the barrel cause I don't remember. Anyway that would be one thing that wouldn't cost a lot that you could do to help out. If you store potatoes in a cool place they will keep well.
Anyway don't give up... honestly you might have to compromise a tiny bit, but in general I think it is possible, just hard to figure out.
If you got into physical exercise of some kind you would feel better. I have whipped depression a few times, and the only way that has ever worked for me was working out. Long walks, or weights or even sports, if you are co-ordinated, but those things make you feel better cause they get your blood pumping. Even sit ups and push ups help. I am currently fat again, and despite the fact I am not unhappy, I still feel kind of blue from inactivity. I plan to get some exercise soon. I did a little yesterday... and of course I worked today.
In case anyone has missed me my internet was down when I got back. The server is messed up, and Bear was annoyed. Anyway It is working, but I think I am going to loose my IM privilages. He says it is too much of a security risk... Oh well, PM me if you need to talk.

that's an awesome potato growing technique! thanks, i hope to put it to use some day i've done a tiny bit of research on electromagnetic power sources... but i dont know much. all i know is that it is possible to generate small amounts of electricity with nothing but magnets, and some other components which i need to write down lol? and some of them im not sure if i know what they are in the first place...

Well it beats keeping the weeds off a half acre of land, and then picking up potatoes... believe me I have done my share of both, as a kid. I really don't like gardening too much because of that.
I looked at that long and hard, but you would need some really big magnets, and I really didn't understand fully. Another method is to make methane, which will work like propane, and you can run a generator. You can use manure or even compost, to make methane. It is a very simple process, but smelly, and more hard work. Still you could do it very easily... especially if you were located near a hog or cattle farm.
I also looked into Fero-Cement construction. I would love to try it if my back will hold up. It is very inexpensive, and involves chicken wire and portland cement. You can build a house very inexpensively. I wondered though what those darned county building inspector people would think though. I plan to build a shed out of it anyway, if I can find the time and energy. My husband says I should try building something small, like a dog house first. LOL He doesn't have much faith in my little obcession. ;D Anyway I did have a lot of links to things like that on my old computer, and I have a note book, with printed stuff, so there are URLs I could try to find to send you on the subject of survival, food storage, and generally surviving with no modern convenience.
I gave it up when I found out that if I kept going in that direction, DSS would be on my back about whether everything was suitable for the kids. The system doesn't like for you to get too far away from it, and they can find your achilles heal in a heart beat. So be careful.

lol yeah, real big magnets, or... fair sized electromagnets. it's considerably zero point technology, but i dont know enough to make it practical... 5x10 foot magnets just seem a bit much lol. smaller, practical sized, electro magnets can be used, and the electricity they generate can also be the electricity they use... to generate MORE electricity. lol it's actually more theoretical than it is practical but i feel that it is realistic as well, and with enough research, im sure i'll spot something i might have missed... or i'll find something very useful for pocket sized electromagnetic generators ;D sounds like an interesting building method... let me know how that shed goes ;D lol

a friend of mine some might be familiar with, Mindful from Astral Society, has given me some rather inspiring words to work with... i think i might be able to combat the depression a little now. he's very insightful

That's good, and I will try to work on understanding the problem. I am sorry that you are having such a rough time, and I do care. Let me know how you are doing, and I will try to gain more understanding.

Hi Stoner,
Welcome back. I haven't been around as much as I would like either. When I am I just sort of look to see if anyone has posted.
I am glad you are back. I know depression sucks. Weird things are going on in the astral, and that doesn't help anyone's mood. Just try to stay clean of influence. The stretches sound like a good idea, combine that with old fashioned push ups and for the spiritual aura expansions, both will make you feel stronger. Anyway hang in there. We love you.
Take care.

i dont like the ignorance i must ascribe to, what is going on in the astral i might know on a subconscious level, but it sure isnt helping my conscious mind cope!
when reality was created like this, did ANYONE take into consideration the ignorance effect?!

Hi Stoner,
I am sorry things are not going well for you. You have someone in the astral, but for some reason you two aren't connecting in a way you are consciously aware of. I am sorry you feel so desperate and sad.
As for astral projection, I really think some people do that a lot differently than I do. I suggest that you forget about trying to 'leave your body' cause that is just confusing, and not really acurate to the way it happens for me. I just shift my awareness to another body that I have. I recomend meditation, and 'day dreaming.' Just zone out. I know you know how to do that or your name would not be stoner wolf. LOL
Have you ever looked at something till your eyes crossed, and you saw two of everything, that blured vision, I am not thinking of anything feeling. Well do that, and try to go completely blank. If you do that long enough you will become aware of other worlds. Maybe you could try automatic writing while in that state. You might make contact with someone there. Ask angels to guide you so that you get the right kind of spirit and just see what you find.
You can find your other world but as for this one... I agree it sucks. Sometimes the other one has its problems too though. I just hope it gets better for you eventually.

actually, KG, i dont exactly know how to zone out, and when i do, im just staring off into space, not thinking, just aware that i am not doing anytihng but staring off into space...
i have been unable to day dream, at least never vividly, i have no visions or anything like that when i do.
and... um... huh? i can cross my eyes... :S
as for getting better... the only "better" i can possibly concieve is me not existing, can i do that? no, i didnt think so. guess i will just have to learn to love hating everything.

ok, so what now? do i just kill myself and finally rest in peace, or is there ACTUALLY something worthwhile to live for?!
look into my future, what do you see? i see, so far, it's just not worth it.
give me proof that i have no reason to kill myself here and now.
