I know a lot of you say magician but I don't care. Sort of like tomAYto/tomAHto.
Anyway, I am a Chaos Magickian. I believe the universe is only what we as individuals make it to be. If you are Christian and believe in Heaven, Hell, and the Holy Trinity, then it is so. If you are Wiccan and believe in the Mother and Father, then it is so. That's what Chaos Magick is all about. There is no such thing as reality unless you, or the Creator (which, in my opinion, is an incomprehensible force that created the universe and gave it its laws) will it to be so. The Creator created a baseline universe for us. He then gave us Free Will, which allows us to work within this reality.
The key to the universe is simply will. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law". That is the basic tenant of Chaos Magick. The Creator willed it so that our physical universe would have basic laws, which it does, but we can choose to go against those laws if we wish, or even change them entirely. Anything is possible through will, but what is will?
Well, will is difficult to define. Well, will is simply the cause to create an effect. Willing through our physical universe is easy (such as moving my fingers to type this or you willing your eyes to focus on this text) because it is what we know. It is, after all, the universe as the Creator gave it to us. Since we've been raised all our lives to believe in science and the laws of physics, it is nearly impossible for us to believe without a doubt that we could look through a computer screen if we so wished. So, to will something to be outside the realm of physics, one must leave it to the subconscious mind, bypassing the conscious mind entirely.
For example, one of the easiest and "staple" spells of Chaos Magick is called a sigil. Think of a desire, whatever it may be, and turn it into a statement. It doesn't matter what the statement is as long as it represents your desire at least in your mind. So let's say...I want to win the lottery on my birthday.
Most common way to do it: It is my desire to win the lottery on my birthday.
My way of doing it: Birthday Suprise
Okay, next step is to condense your statement. Throwing out all vowels and repeating letters is simple and easy to remember. So, taking my statement...
Birthday Suprise-->brthdysp
Take that string of consonants and use the symbols to create a glyph. You don't need to be an artist, and it doesn't have to be the most creative of things. Just turn those letters into one symbol.
Once you've done that, look at the sigil and make a quick mental note of what it means to you. Look at it and say to yourself "this symbol means I am going to win the lottery on my birthday", then hide it in a safe place.
This next step is the hardest. You must forget what that sigil means. If your conscious mind knows what it means, you will fail in charging your sigil, and thus fail at willing your desire into reality. The way I accomplish this is I make at least 5 sigils, then hand them to my best friend for a month. After that, I don't remember which sigil is which and that is good enough.
The next step is to charge your sigil. That just means throw it out into the universe for it to be. There are many ways of doing this. If you are skilled at meditation, you can meditate on the form of the sigil and visualize it infecting the universe. If not, you can engage in a physical activity until you collapse and then try visualizing your sigil going out into the universe. There are other ways, but those two are the easiest. On a side note, sigils of mine have charged merely by me forgetting about them. See, the way a sigil works is you let your conscious mind forget what it is meant to do, but your subconscious mind remembers. If you can get your subconscious mind to do anything without the interference of your conscious mind, anything is possible. The sigil is a reminder of your desire for your subconscious mind while the conscious mind is merely saying "Hey, will this to be." And so it is.
